Bear Mountain in Fog

Katie Williams21st Century

White Plains, United States

Landscape painting of a scene taken near the Bear Mountain Bridge during a foggy morning. The Bear Mountain Bridge is a local landmark and well recognized architectural marking for New York's Hudson Valley region. The foggy foreground and somber colours give the painting an undertone of melancholy and foreboding.

For more than 35 years, ArtsWestchester has partnered with the Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health to provide local mental health sites with art programs. These programs include multi-session, art-making workshops, one-time musical performances and an annual exhibit. The annual exhibit, Visions, showcases artwork produced by mental health recipients. The art shown during this exhibit invites the public to better understand that those diagnosed with mental illnesses are no different than anyone else. They have hopes. They have dreams. They have stories they want to share with you.
