A small 1920 charcoal drawing of a bearded man by the Dutch artist Marinus Pieter (MP) Reus (1865-1938). Mr JA van Tilburg bequeathed his "prentenkabinet" or painting cabinet of over 10 000 graphic works to the University of Pretoria in 1976. Over 2600 of these works are small sketches and watercolours by the Dutch Impressionist, M P Reus, the largest known collection of its kind. Van Tilburg bought all these works from the estate sale of Reus in 1939. Short Biography: Marinus Petrus Reus or MP Reus as he was known by the artworld was born in 1865 in Dordrecht in The Netherlands. He was mostly a self-taught artist and worked in Dordrecht for most of his life. He painted and drew in the Dutch Impressionist style. Reus passed away in Bergen op Zoom in The Netherlands in 1938.
