In fact the Cellar was used as warehouse for the agricultural tools they needed to farm their land ownership, while the present Attic was a granary where their harvests (mainly wheat and grain) were put to get dry. Only later, due to the increase of the family's esteem, the building became "Foresteria", that was a place to host the Foscarini's nobles guests. The word "Foresteria", indeed, means who is "foreign", a stranger.
