Miners underground

This photograph was taken shortly after the Velsen pit became a part of the Verbundbergwerk Warndt in 1965. The black and white photography goes beyond a purely documentary nature by not only showing the miners working at their workplace, but portraying them as self-confident and cohesive unit.
