Jan Ciechowski was born in Warsaw, saved from the ghetto and liberated after the war from the Cesteskov Camp. He joined the Red Army and served as an interpreter from Russian to German. He moved to Eretz Israel and served in the Palmach. His brother also survived and moved to Israel; his parents perished in the Holocaust.
