This photograph shows a mural drawn by Pablo Picasso on the wall of Bernal's flat above his research lab in Torrington Square. Picasso came to England to attend a World Peace Conference in November 1950. During a dinner party at Bernal’s flat, he made this drawing on the wall of the front room of a man and a woman, signifying peace. It was the only mural Picasso every did in England. When Bernal’s flat was demolished to make way for a new college building, the section of the wall with Picasso's mural was removed for preservation and it is now part of the Wellcome Collection.
