This amphora was part of a 1926 gift of ancient Greek and Cypriot ceramics that was given to Maryhill Museum of Art by Elisabeth, Queen of the Hellenes (and eldest daughter of Queen Marie of Romania). It was made on Cyprus during the Iron Age and shows the influence of the island’s many Greek settlers.
