Bilbies (also known as rabbit-bandicoots) have an elongated snout, kangaroo-like hind legs that allow for hopping movements and powerful forelegs that are perfectly suited for digging out food and excavating underground burrows. The nocturnal animals primarily feed on insects and their larvae, but they will also take subterranean tubers and roots. They are native to Northern Australia.
