Birds & Blossoms

The work depicts a stout rooster. The brushwork is nimble, each stroke succinctly applied, the portrayal true to life, capturing the rooster's form and spirit. A bamboo fence behind the bird, rendered with a pale ink-wash, serves as a backdrop. Beyond the fence are two osmanthus flowers, delicate, yet vigorous, the blossoms in full bloom, lithe and graceful. Another light wash in the background offsets the flowers. The upper left part of the picture is blank, open and expansive, manifesting the beauty of infinite space.
