Description: The long and prolific activities of Cenni di Francesco took place in Florence and in the Tuscany region in general. This work probably was part of the altarpiece of the Church of St. Christopher in Perticaia in Rignano sull’Arno, Florence, dated 1370 and still in its original location. The polyptych altarpiece is an important element for understanding the painter’s early work. This was probably the first important commission in which the young Cenni created such greatly expressive figures, which benefit from the bright chromatic harmonies of their garments, anticipating the works of Agnolo Gaddi.
