UNESCO World Heritage

The Black-billed Streamertail Hummingbird (Trochilus scitilus) is endemic to the easternmost parishes of Jamaica including the Blue and John Crow Mountains. It is unusual in these areas to see the more common island- endemic - the Red-billed Streamertail Hummingbird (Trochilus polytmus). Both species are locally known as the “Doctor-bird” and the Red-billed species is Jamaica’s national bird.
