Black Raku Tea Bowl, yakinuki type, called KEISHU

The name “KEISHU” refers to the phase from a classic Chinese poem. The piece is made by using a hand-forming technique, which is the traditional style of Raku ware. This is a thin, shoe-shaped tea bowl with a part of the rim being boldly pushed inward. The whole body is unevenly covered with an ocher engobe. From the notched lip to the low hip, a light green, a black glaze gently flows in several lines. Inside the small, trimmed foot of the piece, the ‘RAKU’ mark of Kichizaemon XV is impressed.
