These simple black silk shoes with fine ribbon ties are a perfect example of Biedermeier shoe fashion par excellence. Flat silk shoes were worn well into the 1830s and, in line with antique practise, were tied up the calf with silk ribbons. The edges of this slip-on shoe are trimmed in a silk ribbon tied into a small bow on the toe.
