Rome, Italy

A series of portraits depicting imaginary inhabitants of the neighbourhood: simply common people. In this permanent artwork and with their unique style, Sten Lex are trying to capture the day-to-day life of Via dei Magazzini Generali; more precisely, the defenceless and occasional spectators looking at the gallery of famous people painted on the opposite wall. In a world that communicates, the portraits on the wall represent the mass of consumers to which the communicative stream of our society is directed to. Just a bit further down, past the gallery of portraits, Sten Lex produce a logo shaped as a panther with the emerging face of a woman: it represents power, intended as creative power, and the control the mind is able exercise over it. The two pillars of advertising communication find themselves locked up in one image with a powerful symbolism. The works by Sten Lex, be they on wall or canvas, painted or poster, attract the attention of the spectator thanks to the techniques they have developed during the years. For some time Sten Lex have experimented graphic effects available with poster art in painting, and their gallery of portraits in Via dei Magazzini Generali is a rapid succession of networked dots that offer the spectator an example of their stylistic art, internationally acclaimed.
