Marble inscription: M. Calpurnius Rufus died at Ephesus in the 2nd century AD, having served as Director of the Corn Supply and Assistant Governor of the provinces of Cyprus, Pontus and Bithynia, and Asia. The fasces (bundles of rods with axes) indicate his rank as Praetor.
