'Blowing The Fuse' - Priti Paintal

'Blowing The Fuse' (1996) by Priti Paintal. Cover of manuscript and two extracts from the score for 10 improvising musicians and a string orchestra. Specialising in cross-cultural and fusion of jazz, classical and 'world traditional' musics, Priti Paintal also set up the ensemble Shiva Nova. One of my initial searches in the collection was for Priti Paintal as she was one of the first South Asian women based in the UK to have become known within classical music circles during the late 1980's.The contrasts between the restricted notation and the long passages of improvised cycles appear throughout the score.
