The Computamatic Football & Baseball board game appeared in 1970. An electronically-enhanced simulator of sports, the game did not contain a real computer. Instead, clever wiring and mechanics operated a system of lights which indicated different yard lines or plays when opponents pushed buttons simultaneously. Players reported enjoying the game, but when real electronic games such as the early Magnavox Odyssey (1972) and Atari home game systems appeared, they overshadowed this simpler device.
