Game makers Chaffee & Selchow produced their "Game of Old Mother Goose" duringe the late 19th century. Many game manufacturers made games related to fairy tales and children's literature. They appealed to both the children and their gift-buying parents. The imaginary person (Mother Goose) under whose case nursery rhymes and fairy tales live, is often shown flying through the air on her "very fine gander."
