Some games exist purely for entertainment and some are educational on purpose. The latter applies to Parker Brothers' 1952 Game of State Capitals. Very simply, players compete to name state capitals and place their capital markers over the named cities. The playing board resembles a map of the United States--minus the 1959 additions of Alaska and Hawaii, of course. Educational games such as this appealed to parents and other adults who purchased games for children.
