Entrepreneur, play scholar, author, and marketer, Tim Walsh represents the world of playthings for the early 21st century. His first book, "The Playmakers: Amazing Origins of Timeless Toys," published in 2004, serves as a reference for play scholars, historians, and toy collectors. Walsh designed or contributed to the design of several best-selling games, created for children and adults. Both motivational and playful, he speaks regularly at play and game conferences, awards programs, and for private corporations.

Walsh developed the board game TriBond along with Ed Muccini and Dave Yearick in 1989. Many versions of the game, as well as spin-off merchandise such as a calendar, exist today. In TriBond, players are given three related words and they must figure out the relationship. This 2010 example features related words developed by famous puzzlemaster Will Shortz. The bi-lingual box indicates this example's Canadian manufacture.
