A wooden lace bobbin probably used by prisoners of war to make "thread lace". This kind of bobbin, without beads or "spangles" to weight it, is known as a Honiton type. The prisoners of war started to produce lace but the locals objected as it was undermining a local industry so the work was stopped by prison authorities.
