Body armour of Aurangzeb

Waistcoat armour of Aurangzeb (1658 - 1707) made of fine Damascus steel. On the lower part of the front plate a three lined inscription in gold is engraved in Arabic in Naksh and Persian in Nastaliq script. The first two lines reads: La illaha illal Allaho, Muhammad Rasool Allaho (There is God, but Allah, Muhammad is Prophet of Allah). The third line reads: Shahanshah Aurangzeb Alamgir (Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir). Two plates, each for the front and the back, are hinged together. Inside lining is of stuffed cotton. Both the pieces are detachable.
