Being able to earn an honest living while behind bars has been a pleasant surprise for the beneficiaries of the Carakana project. "My name is Catherine, I am a 34-year-old separated mother of two, currently imprisoned at Lang’ata Women’s Prisons. I joined Carakana in 2016 and I worked on this elephant pattern that took me seven weeks to finish. Payment from Carakana goes a long way in assisting me take care of my needs as well as needs for my children back at home.
