This boot-shaped vessel is one variety of the bronze yue, which, according to the mainstream scholarly view, was a ritual vessel symbolizing the power of emperors, which was developed based on the shape of an axe-like weapon.
With a hollow cuboid handle on one side, this vessel has a side look similar to a parallelogram, outlined by four curved lines, including an indent spine. On its one side there still can be seen a frame line, decorated with relief-style patterns which are inapprehensible due to severe abrasion and erosion. The other side of it features two life-like confronted birds in the center, with stretched necks and rings.
