  • Viewing Notes: The square grid in this lace, the foundation for needle-made looping, is what is left after removing sections of warp and weft from a woven fabric. This technique- withdrawn element work- was variously known as "punto tagliato," "punto fili e rimessi" and "fil disfilato" in 16th century Italy.-From Lace Exhibition, August 3 - November 7, 1982
