Border with the Arrest of Achior

Los Angeles, United States

Guarded by soldiers, Achior unwillingly follows his captors to the besieged city of Bethulia. According to this Old Testament story, Achior eventually converted to the Jewish faith after the Jews of Bethulia took him in and treated him well. The image of Achior bound and with a rope around his neck echoes the depiction of the arrest of Christ seen on the facing page, an artistic strategy used to help the viewer make the connection between the Old and New Testament events.
