A glass bottle found with a note under the floorboards in the 1930s clearance of the castle. The note reads, 'this floor was laid and the room renovated by the following person:- Geroge Hayden Junior, John Hayden, Arthur Hayden, James Hedgecock, William Oakshott, all of Southwick June 1876."
