The bowl is raised with gilded moldings on the inside. There is also gilding on the Ionian cymation on the rim. In the medallion, a youthful Dionysos and Ariadne facing to the left (with Dionysos holding Ariadne at the neck). Turned away from the couple is a seated Silenus, facing right. Next to him is the thyrsos staff. The field is framed by a grape leaf tendril. The ground, draperies, hair, jewelry, thyrsos staff and tendril are all gilded.
