A dragon and two phoenixes are depicted on the inside surface. This space is filled with peonies and cloud patterns in red, yellow, green and gold. A blue repeating pattern of ireko-masu (double squares) encloses the inside design. The rim of the bowl is folded back to form a flange-like lip. The lip is decorated in four places with a pattern containing a gold flower and red spirals. On the outer surface, a flower design has been painted in four places, and lotus petals pattern surrounds the unglazed foot-ring.
