Unknown9th–7th century B.C.

The J. Paul Getty Museum

The J. Paul Getty Museum
Los Angeles, United States

Large bowl of red-brown clay glazed inside and out, though the glaze has largely worn away from the interior. Some fragments have been reattached to the rim and others are missing. On the exterior, the rim is delineated by a thick, incised line. Under the rim is painted ovolo decoration in black. These are decorated with wavy lines and surrounded by arcs which are decorated with hatch marks. One smaller ovolo lacks the surrounding arc and the arc to the right of it has a wavy line decoration instead of hatch marks.
