Chinese lacquer box and cover. Period: Ming, Yong -lo. Description: Carved red lacquer. Round with straight sides, flat sund base on rounded bottom edges. Deeply carved design of two phoenix birds and chrysantemum flowers; hibiscus, rose, peony, camellia, chrysantemum etc. Interior and base covered with dark brown lacquer.
