Found by a lobster fisherman near Heligoland in 1860, this gold bracelet arrived at the Museum of Prehistory and Early History in 1948; after aperiod in private ownership, it was bequeathed to the museum in a will. Made from solid gold and weighing 48.8 g, this bracelet is made from a piece of metal with a round cross-section, whose ends run parallel towards each other for almost half of the bracelet’s diameter. The interlocking ends are a flexible fastening, allowing the diameter of the bracelet to be altered by applying pressure.
