Brennus

Fan with pierced and carved ivory sticks and guards, piqué in silver and clouté with mother of pearl.

The single vellum leaf is painted on the recto with an episode from the story of Brennus (referenced in the work of Livy) commander of a Gallic tribe known as the Senones, who sacked and defeated Rome in 387 BC.
The verso is painted with Neptune in his chariot pulled by two horses.
