Athens, Greece

Bronze Corinthian helmet with incised decoration, from the area of Olympia, Peloponnese. The provenance of this object from the great centre of the worship of Zeus is partly borne out by the fact that a soldier’s accoutrements were the most usual offerings at pan-Hellenic shrines. 600-550 BC. H. 0.24 m. (ΓΕ 8063)
