Bronze Dagger

Field Museum

Field Museum
Chicago, United States

Decorated bronze weapons like this one are often found in elite graves dated to China's Shang period (c. 1600-1046 BC), along with sacrificial victims. Bronze is tough, malleable, and takes a sharp edge, making it an excellent choice for weapons. This bronze blade may have been designed to be attached to a wooden handle and wielded like a halberd or axe.
