Bronze Knife with a Jade Piece

Hubei Provincial Museum

Hubei Provincial Museum
Wuhan, China

When writing on bamboo pieces, a knife would be used to scrape off erratum. Four bronze knives have been unearthed from the Zeng Hou Yi mausoleum, three of which are decorated with bronze rings and one with a jade piece. This knife is covered in cloud patterns and the handle is in the shape of a dragon, inlaid with turquoise. However, since it was not placed next to bamboo pieces, it might have other functions.
