Hangzhou, China

Bronze paring knives are believed to be the predecessor of scissors in China. In ancient times, people used this versatile tool to peel and carve bamboo or wood, to butcher and dress chicken or fish.
With the thick spine and super thin edge in parallel, this bronze paring knife has a pointed tip and a loop-shaped pommel. There are densely-arranged saw teeth along the edge of the spine, which allow the knife to fulfill more cutting functions.
