This weight, for a statera, or steelyard, is in the form of a bust of a bearded and balding man. It is possibly meant to represent a philosopher. The lid in the head allowed the hollow-cast bronze body to be filled with lead to achieve the desired weight. In its current state it weighs 6.812 kilograms.
