Seoul, South Korea

Because the Buddhist practice of cremation was firmly established by the beginning of the Unified Silla Kingdom, many cinerary urns were made. Most 8th-century examples were elaborately decorated over the entire surface of their bodies with impressed or stamped designs. This burial urn has an attached ring that prevents the lid and the urn from separating.
