Painted earthenware ceramic jug depicting tennis scene. Base and top of jug are wide, center is narrowed. Handle is an Art Deco modelled woman tennis player in an orange beret, yellow shirt, and white/gray skirt. Her right hand which holds a tennis racquet and the arm extends onto the body of jug and is hitting a ball. The decoration of the jug from bottom to top, is green (depicting grass), center area is gray with a tan band (depicting the tennis net), and above is the white and blue sky. The rim is white with black dots. The inside of the jub is green (at top) fading down into white. Factory marks on underside.

This modelled jug was the third design in a sports series (first two were cricket and golf) designed in 1936 by head modeler Ernest Bailey and was given the shape number 5289.
