"Polisson is a piece of women’s underwear that is able to change the body figure which is associated with changes that fashion imposes.

Introduced around the year 1860 it is a fluffy device padded or plaited metallic chainmail, tightened waist, with the objective to provide a sharp look to the figure, focusing the volume to the bottom of the back. It was also known as “Cul de Paris “ (Paris bottom), “cul de sac” or “Follow me kid”, the polisson replaced the crinoline, an invention made by rings and ribbons, tight to the waist that gave a large volume and movement to the skirt, up to the point to complicate women mobility. Since 1885 polisson reduced its size till completely disappear in 1890."
