The J. Paul Getty Museum
Los Angeles, United States

Raised from a single sheet of gold. Reclining griffin with hooves turned toward the back and curled up. Eyes and ears originally (probably) were inlaid with stones. The tail ends in a small griffin's head. There is a horizontally placed pin for fastening the button on the inside. The button decorated, in all probability, the crossing points of a horse's harness straps.
