Goods of an amount difficult to imagine pass through the postal services every day. The confidence of users has been won by taking good care of them and ensuring their delivery. Postal Service ethos concerns delivery of the mail to the addressee and to no-one else: correspondence should not fall into the wrong hands.
This "Mail Directory" chest function was to store values to its transportation. This box belongs to the Ark-Safe sphere. Taking into account the elaborate manufacture, decoration, and the symbology that identifies it or the material it is made, it is a unique object. Yet we do not know its origin, since it was acquired in an Antiquarian in Lisbon after being restored in England.
This is a rectangular shaped Box in tinning. This piece is painted light green and in each of its six faces, it has vegetal ornaments painted in gold. In the upper face, we still find the design of the Royal Coat of Arms painted in shades of red with golden ornamental motifs. Below this coat, we find written in black in a semicircle, over a golden background track, "MAIL DIRECTORY". At the front face we found a small lock, while on the sides there are two handles to enable the transportation of the box.
