This painting by Guy Coheleach is of the iconic California condor. Coheleach's condor is pictured in flight from below, its enormous wingspan on full display. At one time, a mere 23 condors survived worldwide. Extensive recovery efforts by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and partners have increased numbers of condors in the wild and in captivity. This painting is one of over 3,000 small-scale watercolors commissioned by the National Wildlife Federation and used for their conservation stamps. The stamps were produced from the 1930s-1990s to promote the mission and work of the National Wildlife Federation.
