POW camp in Erbach, Püttlingen. Hundreds of POW and forced labour camps existed in the Saarland during the Second World War. The Nazi regime used prisoners of war and forced labourers for domestic production. The inhumane working and housing conditions as well as torture and cruelty by the guards caused the deaths of thousands of these labourers.
