On this can for chewing tobacco manufactured by Grimm & Triepel Nordhausen (Harz), the company refers to itself as the most famous German brand in Nordhausen. On 14 June 1849, the businessman Theodor Grimm founded the tobacco factory in Nordhausen in the Harz region. A short time later, it specialized in the production of chewing tobacco. The company employed more than 1,800 employees in the time prior to the Second World War at its headquarters and various branches. This made Grimm & Triepel Europe's biggest factory for chewing tobacco. Every year, approximately 65 million packs or pieces (in the shape of rolls, horseshoes, nods and bars) were manufactured.
