A monochrome drawing titled, Canyon Ruins by the South African artist Carl Jeppe (b.1949). Short Biography: Carl Jeppe was born 1949 in Krugersdorp, and is a renowned South African artist known for his love for teaching and passion for drawing. He received his education at St. John’s College in Johannesburg and went on to study Fine Art at the Pretoria Technikon, (now Tshwane University of Technology). After working as a prop maker at the Performing Arts Council of the Transvaal (PACT) for three years, he, along with his wife Lynn and two friends, all Technikon Alumni, opened their own art school: Art Studios Pretoria. Jeppe held his first solo exhibition at the Arts Association in Pretoria in 1976 and started teaching part-time at the Pretoria Technikon. In 1981, he was appointed as a full-time staff member of Technikon Pretoria and remained with the institution ever since. He received his Higher Diploma in 1984 and for 14 years, he presented weekly life drawing lectures at the University of Pretoria from 1988 to 2002. In 2000, he was invited to present lectures and drawing workshops at Michigan State University in the United States.
