Game of Spider and the Fly is a children's game produced by McLoughlin Brothers of New York. They copyrighted this game in 1870 and this version is probably from around that date. A simple trick-taking game, Spider and the Fly's cards are divided into spiders, flies, and webs. The game's title comes from the famous poem by Mary Howitt, first published in 1829. Lewis Carroll parodied this poem in "Alice in Wonderland" with "The Lobster Quadrille."
