Games that recreate the play of sports are nearly as old as games themselves. Perhaps this is because sports themselves are games, and other factors, such as bad weather or the youth of the would-be players made playing the real thing impossible. So simpler board or card games are produced which try to duplicate the play of the real thing. The 2009 introduction of Gridiron Football continued the trend. This card game comes with its own tiny playing field and plastic peg players. The game can be played as solitaire or with two players.
