The game Logomachy or War of Words is related to the game Anagrams, which was (and is) produced by many different manufacturers. The object is to take a trick, or win a group of cards, by forming a word. Like Anagrams, Logomachy is a natural precursor to crossword puzzles, and to the game Scrabble. F.A. Wright of Cincinnati made this version quite early, with a copyright of 1874.
